Arnie Bellini on Building Tampa Bay into CyberBay | An Insightful Interview

When it comes to the MSP industry, few names carry as much weight as Arnie Bellini. As the co-founder of ConnectWise and now, the General Partner of Bellini Capital, Arnie has been instrumental in shaping the IT channel. That’s why we were thrilled to sit down with him for an insightful interview with Timus CEO, Pinar Ormeci.

In this must-watch interview, Arnie shares his journey; from building ConnectWise into a powerhouse to his vision for transforming Tampa into CyberBay. He discusses the challenges and opportunities MSPs face today, along with his expert insights on cybersecurity, growth, and the importance of staying ahead in this digital world.

The Vital Role of Cybersecurity for MSPs

One of the standout themes in this interview was the growing significance of cybersecurity operations for MSPs, especially in this day and age. The days of simply providing IT support are over. Arnie stressed that cybersecurity operations are becoming just as important, if not more so, than traditional IT services. For MSPs, it’s not enough to rely on firewalls and antivirus software anymore. Clients want a more comprehensive security approach, hence why solutions like SASE are becoming integral to MSP offerings.

Timus SASE aligns perfectly with this shift. It simplifies and consolidates network security for MSPs by integrating multiple security tools into a single, unified solution, reducing complexity while enhancing protection. As Pinar put it, “if you’re doing security right, it’s an opportunity to tell your clients, ‘We’re future-proofing you’.”

Arnie and Pinar also made a compelling case for MSPs to embrace the latest in cybersecurity as part of their service offerings. It is seen as a key differentiator, the chance to stand out in a competitive market. Arnie echoed the sentiment Pinar made by stating; “Mature companies offering both IT and security operations are the ones that will retain clients and thrive in the coming years.”. If they don’t evolve to meet this demand, clients will turn to someone else.

The Growing Talent Shortage in Cybersecurity

Arnie’s commitment to cybersecurity continues to go deeper and deeper, as he is invested in solving the talent shortage, which he believes is one of the biggest challenges facing the industry. During the interview, he shared about his exciting initiative aimed at addressing that shortage. The U.S. is currently facing an estimated 1 million job openings for cybersecurity professionals, and Arnie believes that the only way to bridge this gap is by investing in the next generation of talent.

To that end, Arnie has pledged $40 million to create the Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity at the University of South Florida. The goal is simple: to increase the number of trained cybersecurity professionals who can step into the workforce and help businesses protect themselves against the rising tide of cyberthreats.

With this initiative, Arnie hopes to not only develop a new wave of cybersecurity professionals but also to support local businesses in the Tampa Bay area, many of which are already at the forefront of cybersecurity innovation.

Conclusion

The conversation between Arnie and Pinar delved into much more than the cybersecurity business. It was about the future, how MSPs can evolve to meet these changing demands, the importance of integrating security into every aspect of business, and why MSPs must continuously adapt to stay competitive.

One thing is clear: the future of MSPs depends on their ability to embrace cybersecurity and make it a core part of their offering. As Arnie stated, “You have to jump on this wave—whether it’s artificial intelligence or cybersecurity. If you don’t, you’re going to miss out.”

Arnie’s candid advice and personal stories offer valuable lessons for anyone in the MSP or cybersecurity field. Watch the full interview now, so you can start preparing for the future of cybersecurity.
